Directions to the range from Mote 6 in Cross Lanes, WV

#1.)  Exit the Motel 6, turning right onto 622, heading back toward Interstate 64.  Avoid the far right lane, as that lane will merge you onto 64 West.  Follow the lane signs to Goff Mountain Road/622.

#2.) At the third set of traffic lights (one prior to crossing over I-64 and two closely positioned together, after crossing over I-64), turn left onto Goff Mountain Road, Route 622. Follow Goff Mountain road up over Goff Mt. and down into Institute, traveling about 2 miles.

#3.) At the traffic light at the bottom of Goff Mt. Road, turn right onto Route 25 towards Nitro/St. Albans.  Follow Route 25 for about 2.75 miles to the first traffic light encountered on Rt25. Move to the left lane as you near the traffic light.

#4.) At the traffic light, turn left to cross the Nitro/St. Albans Bridge into St. Albans.  Go straight through the traffic light at the bottom of the bridge (if it’s green) crossing MacCorkle Ave/Rt60 and entering 3rd Street between Taco Bell and Tim Horton’s. The intersection of 3rd Street is directly across from the foot of the Nitro/St. Albans Bridge.

#5.)  Once on 3rd Street, travel under a railroad over-pass and through 2 traffic lights.  (There will be a Go Mart at the 1st traffic light if you want to stop and stock up on beer and cigarettes before the match.)  At the first Stop sign after the 2nd traffic light, turn left onto 9th Avenue.

#6.) As 9th Avenue climbs, bear to the right at the top of the first incline, where 9th Avenue becomes Highland Drive.  Stay on Highland Drive as it continues to climb and passes through a residential section.  After the straight residential section, you will pass a large water storage tank on your right as you enter an S-Type series of turns.

#7.) As you leave the residential area into a more rural setting, Highland Drive becomes Dry Ridge Road and narrows to normal WV rural route. If your windows are rolled down for this section of road, please do not say the word “Deliverance” to loudly.

#8.) Follow Dry Ridge Road to the Stop sign at the end, where it intersects with Lincoln Drive/Smith Creek Road, at the bottom of a very steep decline.

#9.) At the intersection of Dry Ridge and Lincoln, you are approximately 100 feet to the left of the club entrance, which you will be able to see. Carefully turn right onto Lincoln Drive.  The FOPA #5 Range will be on the left, immediately after a short incline on Lincoln Dr. Look for signs, on the left, marking the club entrance.

CAUTION: Watch for on-coming traffic before turning into the club entrance.  Vehicles moving toward you will be coming from a semi-blind curve, and will likely be traveling at a higher than safe rate of speed.

#10.) If you accidentally pass the club entrance, there is a small gravel turn-around just beyond the entrance again on the left.  Turn around here, carefully, and come back to the club entrance now on your right.

If you get lost, STOP immediately, look dumbly at the other passengers in your vehicle, say something profound about the bad directions you were given, then reach for you cell phone and call 304.549.5409……not quite On-Star…but I’ll help you the best I can.

Travel time from the Motel 6 to the FOP Range should take between 20 and 30 minutes depending on traffic.
